Wolves Remembered

Mural in The Blue Mule Espresso Bar in Nelson, BC.
Art by Stephanie Kellett; photo and text by Robert E. Livingood.

This piece, titled Never Cry Wolf, is an ode to the false accusations
and subsequent murder
of the finally re-surfacing population of Wolves in the Kootenay region.
Wolves are beautiful creatures, and are not responsible for the decimation of woodland Caribou. Logging of old growth forests is the greatest threat to caribou,
since the lichen that they eat only grows in them.

Stephanie often works in tandem with Robert E. Livingood to create illustrated books and art events. This mural was also birthed out of his quote from their book, A Crack to Let the Light In.
It hopes to reflect how other species can survive and resurface
amidst the rubble of a human-centred planetary existence,
and how their presence is filled with an honesty and tenderness
not always present,
though always possible,

in human interactions.
